Hospital Cuts - upset!

My surgeons practice is part of the Crozer Keystone Health System and they just had a huge layoff of 250 employees and it looks like my NUT was one of them. I have been trying to get in touch with her via email with no response so I called her number and it is no longer her voice mail it just says to call another number. I am very upset by this. I have been working with her for almost 2 years (I am 18 months post op). I am going to call the office because our monthly support group is supposed to meet tonight and I haven't heard anything about it we usually get an email reminder. How do they expect to run a bariatric practice with out a nutritionist???

That's awful. Seems like the whole world is more intrested in maximizing the profit than they are about doing the customer right!
Let alone how they treat employees! I once cancelled a contract with one of the better restraunts around due to the way the owner treated his employees. Felt good!

Kelly - So sad you lost one of the people in your support group. Maybe they have a suggestion on a new Nut. :-(

That does suck to loose someone you work with for so long. Some bariatric programs do not have in house nuts. Its like the psych evaluation its all referral. Maybe ask around your group see if they know an independent one who takes insurance. I find in most health care if you can go private practice it is best to do so. Or if you go with a group get a small one who is not owned by a corporation, HMO, or big financer like a hospital.....being owned by is different then having privileges at my current surgeon has privileges in a couple cities as he grew his practice and does surgeries in both. He owns his practice though.

I'd suspect they have a plan. Possibly contract out the service. My practice lost their psychologist and arranged to contract the service with someone at a nearby hospital for a while.

Also, I know you're not far from me (and I heard about that layoff--sad). My nut has a private practice so if you need a referral I can give you her name. You might be able to consult over the phone or maybe she knows someone down your way.

I finally got through to someone in the office late yesterday afternoon. I was told that the NUT is not gone and will be back next week - they were very weird about it on the phone when I asked for her. I just found it very strange that her voicemail simply didn't say she was on vacation and would return next week. Instead it was totally changed didn't say her name at all and gave a totally different number. I will try to call her on Monday. I am so relieved!
