What a trip!!! Surgery went well. On day 2 I was burping up lots of bloody phlegm with chunks of red tissue so I am back on just water, no juice or jello or milk. I can try milk tm. I have to take zofran with my meds cuz they make me sick. Today is day 3 and I am home. These feelings are overwhelming. I feel weepy. At least the pain is controlled!! I hope everyday gets better.

He did say that sometimes patients do burp up stuff but mine was really disgusting. He said it might be the pain meds irritating the pouch too. It was sure scary!!!!

Glad to hear you're done surgery and on the mend. Scary! Anyone else have this bloody phlegm? Sounds like it was from the intubation (breathing tube) or NG tube. Thoughts?

Way to go!!!!!! You are on the other side!!! When I had jaw surgery in my 20's there was a lot of weird blood settling in my chest. It is bazarre to experience this after surgery! We can be warned ahead, but when it is happening to you it is scary. Our medicl support is only phone call away. I'm sure they would not let you go home if there was a problem. Don't forget to sip, walk, and rest!!!

So glad you are home! That helps me to feel more human! :) May I suggest staying off the scale for a few weeks? It will help with your 'mental well-being' I guarantee it!

Congrats!!! and I'm glad you're home --- there's no place like home. I understand the weepy part, I was also, it's like all the stress of having the surgery and trying to adjust to our new lifestyle and then finally being sent home, you just want to cry (at least I did...) Good luck on drinking milk today. If you have trouble, sip slower. I started by drinking 1 oz of water in less than 5 mins and was nauseous, but when I made it 1 oz, about 6 sips in 15 mins, I was ok. Again, Good Luck!!!
