Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
I'm over 2 1/2 years out and knock on wood complication free but it is my understanding that we may develop nutritional deficiencies (anemia, osteoporosis, metabolic bone disease) avoided obviously by keeping up with our vits daily and watching our lab work. There are some studies linking neurological issues to GBS (seizures). Also some post-ops have issues with reactive hypoglycemia (glucose levels) There is also sadly a large % of post-ops who regain.
Hmmm that is all I can think of right now... if more come to me I'll post 'em.

Did anyone see the Doctors program where they talked about a woman who lost about 100 lbs. and then gained 50 back? They did some kind of procedure on her where they went in through her mouth and reduced her stomach size from the inside.
It was weird. I think we have to get our habits down, eating correctly and exercising or this may happen to all of us? Kind of scary to think of having a procedure like that done, it seems very risky.
I'm not quite 2 months out and have only lost 25 lbs. I'm kind of worried about that. I lost 20 within about 2 weeks and then 5 in the last 1-1/2 weeks.
I'm worried that I'm one of those people that GBS isn't going to work for. I can eat pretty much anything, although I haven't had any bad carbs yet. The only thing that seems to bother me is if I forget and eat too fast, it hurts then comes back up after about an hour. But I can eat a lot more than 4 oz. so I really have to watch that.
There is another procedure called the "Stomaphyx" but I do not know how this one works, all I know is it is also done like an endoscopy.
God Bless!
