That sucks. I had one while I was in for the C-Diff incident. I told them it hurt when I was eating too. But everything looked fine. It ended up being that I needed to chew better and take smaller bites. When I had it I was 4 weeks post op. But now (6 weeks post op) it get's better everyday and I can put more in. I guess the chew your food to mush thing is true. Good luck on your endoscopy. It's easy.

Sorry that the upper GI didn't do it. I hope the endo goes well and that it is scheduled quickly. In the meantime, try to stall well hydrated. You don't want to deal with dehydration as well as the pain when eating. ....:)

I'm so sorry you are experiencing problems.
Unfortunately I have had a 2 since my surgery and they went pretty smoothly. The last one (in February) the surgeon cut a stitch and tissue that had healed strangely creating a small obstruction. Since then I have done much better with eating.
Ill be thinking and saying a prayer for you. Keep us posted.

Well my dear, I hope this little comment helps calm your nerves. 1, I work for an Endoscopy Center, 2 I have had 3 since my surgery 9 weeks ago! I freaked out having to be the one having one on my first scope, it was NOTHING! No worries!!! You will take a nice little nap and wonder how it all happened and you don't remeber LOL You may have a stricture which can be stretched! I have a stricture and mine keeps closing back (thus the 3 scopes) but it's not big deal at all. DONT FRET!!!! I couldn't keep foods down either, and boy oh boy the pain when it would get stuck :( BUT after the scope is done, it's soooo much better!!! :)BUT honestly, the procedure is simple, the worst part is the IV I promise!!! ;)

Darla, the pain when something gets stuck is what I am dealing with. It is the most horrible, incredible pain I have ever ever had. At our house we call it "call 911 pain" and that is what I'm having. Except we don't call 911 because they can't help me.

I hate that I'm having to have another procedure but I honestly hope it is just a stricture and nothing more serious. I'm tired of not being able to eat and I'm dizzy all the time and I know it is because I'm not taking in enough vitamins.

I'm just praying that this does the trick and I'll be back to my regular self soon. Thanks for all the encouraging words everybody!

As I said before, it is simple. I can ALMOST promise you that if it is getting stuck, then it's a stricture. I see it ALL the time hre at work AND have experienced it first hand. Gave me a new sympathy for my patients. :)

Now, do not get discouaged IF they have to do the EGD more than once. I forget how far out you are but I am now 9 weeks out. The way our bodies heal is kind of weird and due to it becoming "soft and mushy" inside afer surgery it could very well do it again. Normally the plan is to keep dialting your stricture until it holds. Mine has so far taken 3 times. The best thing you can do afterwaqrds is IF you think it's coming back schedule ANOTHER scope asap. The sooner you get rescoped the easier it is to stretch it back open. I am praying that 3rd times a charm for me. ;) IF not, God will coninue to help me through it, as He will you.

Let us know. Be ready to completely sleep all day. The meds given for this make you unable to do much of anything :) Nap time ;)

Yesterday was 5 weeks out for me. My doctor said that I am at the right time period to have a stricture if that is what is going on.

On a bright note, I talked to the gastroenterologist's office that is doing my procedure and I've met my out of pocket deductible so this is covered 100%. At least that is one thing that is not going to stress us out.

I met mine too! Before surgery. I recieved my EOB for the surgery...it was $64,000 and it said I owed $.01 :) Thank The Lord!
