Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
I agree with Lcat; counseling and/or support groups, whatever helps you find the tools to get on track, and helps with accountability to stay there, will be a good start.
That and get moving again, any way you can, maybe swimming, maybe rowing, or even yoga. Non-impact, motion based movement. You can do this, and you're worth it.
Maintenance involves balancing the gain/loss dynamic that I think everyone faces. I gained about 20 lb, and I need to lose 12-15 of it. (Some of the gain was encouraged by my physician.) So I'm going back to weighing myself daily, and I'm cutting calories to less than 1000 a day until I'm back to where I want to be. I don't get hungry. When I want to eat, it's often for emotional reasons, so I always have to check myself.
Happily, we have a tool that will continue to work for us, if we use it wisely. Good luck to you. :)
Christmas baking starts soon and I will need all the tools in my arsenal to get thru, coming here is one of the tools I will rely on, I stopped reading posts and didn't understand how important it is to continue to interact with other GP people until this week, I am not alone, there are so many of us who still struggle. Wishing you all the strength you need to feel confident in yourself to push thru and carry on losing weight.
I also allowed other people to get in my head and convince me that: I exercisd too much, could eat certain things, that I was getting too thin.....etc..etc. What I didn't realize but know do is that is what helped and worked for me. I am learning to listen to my own voice again and do what is best for me!
