if i just don't eat foods that i'm not suppose to have will it do the same things as liquid diet? or only eat 2 a day protein and veggies I am at a lost what to do 2weeks of this is CRAZY!!

I am on my liquid diet now too. I am trying to stay super busy with other things so that I don't think about food. I started my liquid diet yesterday and I had a headache too.

I wouldn't deviate from your doctor's instructions at all before surgery. He has you eating a certain way for a reason. But I know it is very very hard. I will be praying for you that you get through this trying time!

if this is for the liver shrinking liquid diet, it is possible it could affect having the surgery. The doctor could decide not to do it. I was on total liquids with no food for 2 weeks before my surgery. It is very hard and I did drink a small bottle of juice on my third day when my blood sugar got too low and I was out. It was the only thing that I could find at the convenience store to help raise my sugar level. I tried to take it a few hours at a time. I would say to myself, I am going to make it to (insert time) then I will see how I feel. I found that by breaking it up, I was able to do more than I could by looking at the whole 2 weeks ahead of me. After the first week or so, I was so sick of the sweet tasting drinks, that I lost all appetite. The second week was easier. Then After surgery, I was on clear liquids for a week then on full liquids for a month. The 2 week liquid diet helped me prepare for that. It made it a lot easier. You can do this! You are strong! It is brutal but you've got to get through it. It actually shrinks your liver and that makes the surgery less risky. I tried to stay very busy and I chewed a lot of gum.

It is hard. How long do you have to do the liquid diet? I will have to do that for 4 days before my surgery when I finally have it and I worry about doing it that long and what will happen to my diabetes medicine. Good luck to you.

You really need to follow what your doctor ordered. I took did a 2 week liquid diet and the first 3-5 days were rough. It's your head telling you that you're hungry.

The liquid pre-surgery diet is the hardest part of this whole deal! Hang in there. The headache is very normal. Your body is detoxing from sugar and caffeine, so you feel like crap. It will get easier by about the 4-5 day. Hang in there.
