Christmas was tough because I was fourteen days post-op and couldn't eat anything except purees, which I'd just started that day. So much of that holiday revolves around food, and it felt odd to be the only person who didn't have any candy in their stocking. Actually, we never got around to getting our decorations or our tree up this year, so our stockings were actually paper shopping bags that had our names written on them with a Sharpie.
Anyway, dinner was tough because we were at a restaurant and, as I'd posted earlier, I tried five bites of roast turkey. That was a big mistake. Haven't touched it since.
New Year's Eve we were at a party at a friend's house. They put out a very lavish spread, yet I was only able to consume three items. That was fine, actaully. I discovered that I've been missing out on a lot of conversations with really cool people in the past because I'd been too busy stuffing my face. Not this time--and I had a great time!
One day, one bite at a time...
PianoDiva, sounds as if you made it through successfully! Stockings or paper bags, who cares? You can put up decorations and a tree next year. You'll have more energy and be a lot more healthy. :)
Tina2010, I just shared with a long time friend that now that I am 62 I am actually learning to love and accept my body. I no longer see it as an enemy. That's doesn't mean there are things I don't want to change because I do. And I am loving it anyway!
agkirl48, Yes, with God all things are possible!! When I am weak He is strong....
Lcat14, your day sounds stress free and delightful.
I got an awful cold right before Christmas, (I thought naughty girls got coal, who know it was actually a cold? LOL) and am just now getting over it, but I was up to Christmas Eve dinner, so at least got to see everyone. Spent the rest of the holidays watching too much TV and snoozing.
Happy New Year everyone.
Hope you are feeling better.
