Had My Surgical Consult Today

The doctor is very nice and supportive. I was there a couple of hours, watching a movie, meeting doctor, meeting staff. He wants me to have an upper G.I, and a letter of support from my pulmonary specialist in order to proceed with surgery. It looks like I'll have surgery this summer if all goes well.

Both request are totally normal. I had an upper GI and since I was older (49!, I beg your pardon!) I had to consult with a cardiologist even tho I had never had heart problems. I'll bet you're really excited!

I am 25 and never had any health problems apart from being overweight but I still have to see a pulmonologist and cardiologist,its the requirement for the surgeon and office....

I am glad that you feel comfortable and confident with the doctor and his staff. I think that this is very important,because I feel that they will be there for a long time to come in your life. Summer will be here before you know it.

Likewise, I had the upper GI, saw a cardiologist, had blood work to test for H Pyloris (if present more vulnerable to ulcers), other standard blood work, and written oks from my family doc and endo doc (I saw him for diabetes).

I am part of a "Center of Excellence" and seeing the surgeon was a short visit. The Center handled the processing, kept track of what tests I needed , scheduled them, I just showed up. Also required some behavior modification classes, psych eval and nutritional evals, all handled, arranged by the same center.

I didn't have the upper GI but my also don't have my gall bladder.

Hey Honey! I'm right with you! I had my surgical consult the end of March.......had and endoscopy 3 weeks ago, last week had blood work, chest x-ray and an EKG. Now I have to have my nutrition and psych consult. Then I'll be ready to go! My surgeon and I are shooting for the beginning of June!
