hi everyone

I'm new here and this is my first post. after being lost in hospital system for 7 months and making a complaint. I received a call form my baratics coordinator woth 4 dates first starting Tuesday 15th then 18th then 24th then to have actual surgery on 6th December. I was like wow happy excited scares and on top of that email my liver shrinkage diet on Friday evening to start on Monday 7th. All my plans of a lost hoorah were taken away now Iv jumped straight in now it's all come so quick and I wasn't eased into my last few appointments before the big day all i can think about of am I going to b OK and I going to cope and I now feel so panicked and scared. I hope speaking to people and reading people's journeys that I start to feel more at ease.

Hi Lisa welcome aboard. Tomorrow Nov 10th is my year anniversary. It has been a wonderful journey and worth every second of the trip. The best advice I can give you is follow everything to the letter of the law. I have not had one problem. I have lost 80 lbs. I need to get on the ball and loose the rest. Good luck on your journey. wow congratulations to you akgirl48. I have printed lots of research and I am reading it all to know as much as poss, my main thing I will need to be focused on is listening to my body and not using food as an emotion. I take it that weight loss start to slow after the first year. I am arranging my remaining holidays and time I will need of from work. I am thinking along the line of 2 weeks before I can return to work, does that seem a good judgement ?

Welcome and congratulations! If you haven't checked out the "what newbies need to know " post yet, scroll down. It never goes too far. Being prepared is 90% of the process. The more prepared you are, the easier the whole journey will go. If you don't already have a counselor, find one asap. The head games are the hardest part. I'm over 6 years and still haves things come up that I have to deal with. Otherwise we are here for you! I researched for around 8 years and found this group a couple of months before surgery because I was looking for positive support. As a result of what I learned, I have not regretted a single moment of my shedding journey. I reveled in knowing that with every pound I shed, I was gaining my life back. I celebrated every NSV! Non scale victory. And still do even today! Keep coming back even though responses aren't always immediate.

first ..welcome to the best support group online..... 2nd... you had your "last hoorah" you dont need it.... start NOW learning how to live and eating healthly.... i had my surgery Aug 16th and as I said since day 1 i have felt like a million dollars,the first 2 days were painful but my surgery was 7 hrs long due to many past operations.... i followed WHAT NEWBIES NEED TO KNOW to the letter.... i never rush from one phase to another always remember YOU ARE NOT FEELING HUNGRY,it is you head or your heart that is.... just sip some water 8 ozs an hour..... every hour...... i just had my 3 month check up i lost 50 pounds to the ounce since the morning of the surgery...... never forget your new stomach is the size of an EGG...treat it as you would as fragile egg... ......

Welcome!! I had my RNY back in 2010 - best decision I've ever made! I started over 300 lbs... lost 30 before I had surgery... and over the course of 1 year, went from wearing 30-32 pants to size 2. This group has been my touchstone throughout my amazing journey.

Please feel free to ask questions - there is a lot of wisdom here!

Thanks guys for all your reply so. I can't say I'm not scared but I can say I am excited and looking forward to having and living a life Iv always wanted to. I have printed the newbie info off and gave it to my daughters and partner to read. I don't think they quiet realised how much we all go through and for you have been through. I'm finding the shrinkage diet hard already and Iv only done a week. 3 to go. Thanks for the support..I'll check out those sites memere. Xx
