Hi all!
Four days to go and my emotions are all over the place.
Last week had a dream in which I was being chased by muggers who were throwing muffins and cookies at me. When they finally caught me, they attacked me and stole all the chocolate chips out of my pockets.
Had a really nice evening out with my family last Saturday--symphony concert and dinner. At the restaurant we were giggling and I just burst into tears as I simultaneously enjoyed the moment with my family and thought that this was the last Saturday I'd spend as an intact person.
Sunday I played at church, possibly the worst I've ever played, and afterward broke down, confessing that I am scared.
Today I cooked two casseroled for my family during my recovery period and prepped a bunch of veggies to cook and puree, then freeze in ice cube trays. My hands were shaking from nerves.
Tomorrow and Wednesday evening I have choral concerts to accompany and that will be the last time those kids (middle- and high-school students) will see me as a sick, tired, and fat person.
Wednesday morning I start the pre-surgery liquid diet. Thursday I attend my godfather's wife's funeral.
Friday is IT.
My stomach has been in knots all month. All I have left to do is replenish my protein powder supply, cook those veggies mentioned above, and I'm physically and logistically ready. My mind, however, is another story.
Wishing everyone on this journey, especially those at the same point I am, lots of calming moments. It IS going to be okay, right?

Yes, deep breathing and making time for quiet and calm moments will certainly help. My husband wants me to get a massage, but I think I'll save that for afterward to give me something else wonderful to look forward to. He is very concerned for me adn quite worried, but he won't say so. Anyway, I believe that once I calm down, I can truly enjoy these next few days and especially what comes after this weekend. Thanks again, everyone!
it's funny that you should mention the anniversary of your Father's passing. I didn't even think about it until you mentioned it, but my surgery was also on the anniversary of my Mother's passing. How odd is that? My Mother must have been watching over me and continues to watch over me. Take it as a blessing!
