We need to hear this!
I would talk to your nutritionist about your issues. Do you still have contact with them? My program has life long availability to the nut. Also have you had your thyroid checked lately? That also can cause weight gain despite everything being done correctly.
However, I have 2 people where I work who have put about 20 pounds or so back on and have been told by their surgeons that it is sometimes very very difficult to lose weight after you have had GBS and regained due to our body and holding onto fat etc. It can be done just have to be a little creative in tricking the body into letting go of those darn fat cells!
I would not think you could have the lapband as you don't have enough stomach left to fit it around.
But I would first check with my doc/nut and have a workup to see if there is anything else causing the weight gain.
You sound so frustrated, please do not give up. I have a friend who also had the surgery 3 years ago and gained back 80 pounds, she went on a medically supervised weight loss program and has lost 100 lbs. She drinks two supplements a day and eats one meal. She said it made her pouch tight just like after surgery.
First of all don't apologize for having being frustrated. That's what this board is all about. It definitely sounds like you have a problem. I too thought I was doing everything just right and BAM, here comes the weight gain.
I was doing the mental thing, "I got this" and yes, I got the weight right back. I really had to start journaling everything I put in my mouth. I also felt really active because I teach Kindergarten and I am always on my feet. I got out my Weight Watchers pedometer and put it on just to see how many steps I was making. I was making a lot of steps, but I needed to up it more. My body was accustom to the energy I was spending. So I needed to really limit my calories and up the exericse. By no means am I starving,
The journaling of both has seemed to really help me. I journal all my activity and food on www.dailyplate.com.
I also joined a few dares on the same website. I dared myself to be better at the vitamin intake, I dared mywself to really drink more water, and to walk at least 20 minutes a day beyond what I was already doing. I range anywhere from 8,000 to 12,000 steps a day.
The brightside to all of this is for the past 30 days, I have been very deligent. I started with a 15 min. walk (not quite a mile) now I am walking about 53 minutes and over 3 miles. I really log my food in and I try to get everything down before my final meal. So I know what I am allowed to have. In addition to this, I also blog or journal my anxieties and celebrations. Anything that gets me to look at why I am wanting to eat or not.
I know also for me, I was bad at the protein shakes for awhile, Everyone of them made me gag. Now I am better, my pouch quit being sensitive.
I do agree with the other members, I think you should head on back to the nut, Have a complete blood workup. Have them check all your vitamin levels, thyroid, etc... There could be something going on beyond your control.
With great friends and a heart of a lion, we all can accomplish much.
