When I eat food gets stuck in my throat, I can a few spoonfuls, and then that is it. I have not thrown up*thank goodness* but it is very uncomfortable until it goes down. Do this happen to any of you also?

Small bites and chew chew chew! The lady in our classes made us get a cocktail fork and baby spoon to eat with. If you are doing all this already, you may need to contact your doctor.

YEP THIS HAPPENED TO ME ALSO...YOU JUST HAVE TO CHEW, CHEW AND CHEW AGAIN. TAKE REALLY SMALL BITES - NO BIGGER THAN A DIME AND GRADUALLY BUILD UP YOUR BITE SIZE.

CHEW CHEW CHEW!! Smaller bites and chew at least 15 times. Your food should be mush in your mouth

I did have this problem, and I bought a toddler cutlery set! It has helped!

I read on this site to chew until you've said the alphbet in your head. Hard to do but it works. I haven't had surgery yet but I'm trying to do that because I am a very fast eater and need to break that habit!!!!

we were told not to swallow untill it is applesauce consistency. also talke tiney bites aand put the fork down out of your hands btween bites.

I too use a toddler spoon lol Glad that I work nights and no one is really in the office to see me during lunch lol Also I chew until my food is basically liquid....it was SUPER hard at first but I am getting use to it. Good Luck!!!

There is something called papaya enzyme that is awesome for stuck food! I swore by it the first few months after surgery. I agree with everyone else, you really have to chew chew chew, at least 30 times we were told before we swallow.

I also use toddler cutlery, even today and I'm 7 months out. It's a physical reminder to me.
