Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.

Biggest 2 challenges was getting my liquids in and sleeping comfortably. I had to sleep sitting up, sort of reclined, on the couch with my feet up on an ottoman and pillows piled up on either side to support my abdomen, arms and head. I'm sure I looked funny, but it kept me comfortable for a week or so until I could lay on my sides again.
Heal well!
rest a lot. I mean a lot.
sip one to two ounces of fluids every 15 minutes to stay hydrated.
I had to do liquids only for two weeks, followed by one to two weeks of soft (pureed) foods, then ONE solid food a day, very well chewed.
above all, recognize that you will never go back to the lifestyle you led before surgery. It's a new day, a new reality, and the more you embrace that the better things will go for you.
