Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
As far as your daughter, she is YOUR daughter. How you choose to celebrate her birthday should be up to you. Let them try to one up you. We all have to set limits with our children, but you cannot control what others decide to do. Your love to her is the most important thing, not what you buy her. She will know that in the long run.
Don't be too hard on your self for doing what you think is right, whether is it your weight loss or your family.
Lots of luck!
Anyway. Hang in there. Very often it's these negative emotional experiences that have led to our obesity. For real healing, there's more than the weight loss that is needed. We have to learn other ways to deal with the negative emotions and dysfunctional relationships. You may need to push some folks out of your life or severely limit their opportunities to cause distress.
Above all, treat yourself with kindness. Trust your emotions and what your body tells you. You are a valuable, beautiful person who deserves respect and kindness from the people you permit into your life.
If you don't cut people out of your life, at the very least, you can set some boundaries. It sounds like your mum is trying to buy affection from your daughter. You may want to give her a spending limit in the future and insist on previewing any gifts she profers.
Hang in there. Life is messy. :)
And with your daughter... sounds like some toxic family stuff! I hope you find a way to make that right for your own healths sake!
