Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
After surgery you will still be able to enjoy your fav foods but just small amounts in moderation.
Good luck with your surgery.
However, don't let fear dominate your thoughts about the WLS lifestyle. Three quarters of patients are able to eat just about anything after they reach their goal weight--within reason.
However, many of us CHOOSE not to indulge in the foods that previously led us to overindulge. The best part of the meltdown process is the opportunity it gives us to develop a new and healthier relationship to food. Food becomes something that supports healthy and self-esteem, rather than a destructive device to hide our unhappiness. I believe you will be happily surprised by how your attitude toward food changes as you begin to love yourself and your self-esteem increases.
Good luck. :)
I think everyone has/or will go through this. I'm not on the liquid diet and I'm already picking one thing every now and then to eat that I know I won't be able to have because it will make me sick
That said, it is very important to stick with your liquid diet (or whatever diet your surgeon puts you on). When we are obese, our livers are large and fatty. The pre-op diet will shrink your liver so the surgeon can maneuver around it safely during surgery. If it is still enlarged, many surgeons will take one look at it and cancel the surgery.
Hang in there!!! It really is worth it!!

Also you won't be able to have these foods for a while, not forever. But you'll eat less of them less often
