So...I am a week and a half out from my surgery, it is on the 29th of this month. I am on my liver reduction diet where I am supposed to have protein shakes for breakfast, lunch, and snack and then a sensible meal. Of course water and such, too. Today is my second day...and this is SO HARD! I feel jittery and I have a headache, I'm moody and argumentative with my husband. My husband is also having the surgery, but he is still in the pre-op testing phase and I am really starting to question his readiness for this life change. I mean, just the other day he's asking me to make chocolate chip cookies because was craving them....and here I am getting ready to start my liquid diet phase! I told him that I would make them, but after this I would not make them anymore because I can't have them and I can't be tempted by that stuff...and that we don't need to be eating it anyway. He's fussing about how much the bariatric vitamins cost (I spent $47 on 1 month supply of bariatric multi-vitamins and Iron supplement since I'm anemic) and that he didn't realize we were going to have to spend all this money every month on vitamins and that he was hoping to save money by not having to get medications and diabetes testing supplies, etc. It made me feel as though I shouldn't have bought them and that it was nothing but a guilty purchase...which it wasn't. I have asked him if he's really mentally ready for this surgery for himself because he doesn't really seem like he's taking the steps to really prepare himself. I think that he thinks since his ex-wife went through the surgery back in 2003 that he knows what to expect, but I keep trying to tell him it's different when it's yourself and that everyone is different anyway. I don't want to seem judgemental of him and I want to be supportive, but I feel like it's adding to my stress at a time when I don't need it. I'm trying to get myself prepared and this liquid diet is KILLER! I'm so freaking hungry!!
