Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
I encourage you to practice "mindful eating"; not doing anything else when you eat, relishing every bite, and paying attention to how your body feels with every swallow. One of the best things I think I did to prepare for surgery was to officially say "goodbye" to specific foods... I was very aware of every bite I took of the last Chicago style, deep dish pizza I'll ever eat. Same for the Quarter Pounder with cheese and McDonald's french fries. As LCat said, I said "goodbye" to these foods and never looked back. My decision was made, so I never had to wrestle with it again. I just don't "do" certain foods.
Hang in there!! It is totally worth it!! I promise!!
