Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. Did you call your surgeon? the diarrhea should be addressed through him they have meds to help. The shakes can be made from scratch. Use whatever you normally do for lactose free if you wish for a shake but get unflavored powder. you can add whatever you choose. You can add it to other foods as well. soup oatmeal crystal lt. just make it into a paste first for the hot stuff and don't heat the food to much before adding. I had to go unflavored powder the premade and flavored powders just made the vomiting worse.
emotionally you are so normal you wouldn't believe me. I wondered why I did this to myself also. Mine was a anatomical issue but I didn't know for sure for a long time so I have been going through cycles I never even went through with my bipolar that's how bad it has been. Heck I think you can see it in some of my postings the anger to desperation to depression to hope again. Hang in there you can do this you will find your path
Take it one day at a time and know it will get better. It will take time to get used to what you can eat and not eat and you will get through it.
I am cold ALL the time!!! Is this normal??? I have to turn on my bed warmer in AUGUST!!! My husband, poor soul, thinks I've lost my mind.
Im going to speak out it pisses me off when providers blame you for a physical issue. It really angers me they didn't want to see you because you could be rapidly dehydrating. my first surgical center blew me off for a year as my PCP worked his butt off to keep me stable medically. My new surgery center has in the computer I see the surgeon who fixed me only because one of his associates did a endoscope and decided I needed therapy since after my revision I had a very normal emotional issue eating after 2 yers of vomiting. .............If you start having symptoms of dehydration or pain or it does not clear up soon you talk to some one else in that office..........im serious people here have been through reading hell with me they can tell you many of us can tell you do not mess around and don't be pushed around.
I have not had any vomiting and I am grateful. Just diarrhea all the time. I stopped taking the iron pill today and want to give it 3 days or so to see if it makes a difference. I didn't tolerate it well many years ago, and need to see if this might be making things worse.
Thank you sooo much
If it helps you feel any better, it actually is normal to be an emotional mess after surgery. I can't tell you how many people I have met who have buyers remorse soon after surgery. However, ask them 1 year out and it is almost always a different story (in the 3 1/2 years since I've been here I can only remember 2...and I'm not sure they weren't trolls.)
A thought on the coffee...it probably isn't good for your pouch right now. Even decaf actually has caffein. I've never been a coffee drinker, but I've heard it can loosen the bowels, so to speak. So, you may want to avoid it while you have diarrhea!! Iron usually has a constipating effect.
Hang in there!!
