I don't know your age. If you're a "youngin", two weeks may be enough for your recovery. But it may not be.
It actually takes three weeks for the body to heal all the internal incisions. It can take longer to recover from the anesthesia and return to somewhat normal energy levels. Please keep that in mind. If at all possible, make arrangements to modify your work schedule or take additional time off if you need it. Rest and recovery go hand in hand.
:)
I had the sleeve over 4 years ago and love it. Lost 125 lbs. the first year and have kept it off since.
Have to confess I hated all the protein drinks. I got by on ice cold Atkins and the sugar free Carnation Breakfasts with skim milk. I never had issues with lactose, but my friend drinks them with soy or almond milk and swears by them.
Once I was able to eat pureed, then soft foods, I ate enough protein to leave the shakes behind, but many here still start their day with a shake to get a jump start on it.
I too think 2 weeks is pretty ambitious, I was told 4-6 weeks, and the way my insurance is set up, I had to choose 4 or 6, no changing it later. I chose 6, and could maybe have gone back to work part time at 4 (desk job), but was wiped out after a full day's work up to almost 8 weeks. I was just over 50 at the time, so if you're younger, I would say 4 would be more likely. There's a lot of healing and adjusting your body needs to do, and you won't be living off your normal fuel intake after surgery either, it's a long time before you can put in what you're using for calories.
Good luck and keep us up on how you're doing!
I struggled with protein drinks post-op. We had to drink the clear ones for the first few weeks - yuck! The best tip I got about the protein drinks is to drink them as cold as possible - that means with lots of ice (I put mine through the blender). When approved by your surgeon, using a straw also helps.
I can't wait to start hearing your NSVs!!
