Tomorrow I am 6 weeks post op! I am still struggling with my daily fluid intake! I have felt a slight decrease in energy and I know its because I'm not drinking enough! I'm just not thirsty so I literally forget to drink!! Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions? I'm not a big water drinker, Crystal light can be too sweet for my taste buds now! UGHHHH
Other than that things are great! I am done with my official "healing diet" and graduated to eat what I can tolerate. Although since I'm not hungry I'm pretty much sticking to protein protein protein!!
Thanks for listening!!

Guilty of that too. I just forget to drink. I dont like the water much either, so I try to keep apple, grape, or cranberry juice near by. I buy the no sugar added and my nut says its fine.

I found I don't like water after my surgery, and have not liked the strength of the crystal lights, so I found the Nestle pure life flavored water. and you can get them in 330 ml bottles, at least you can in Canada

Kitchen timer. Use a small one that you can carry around with you. set it for 15 minutes. Every time it goes off, sip one to two ounces of something. That's the size of a medicine cup like the ones that come with cough syrup. If you do this consistently, you will get adequate fluids in a typical day. I had to use the timer for about 8 weeks before I developed a habit of constant sipping. It's worth the effort, because the consequences of dehydration are not pretty..... :)

I carry a timer with me and a water bottle filled with water or special k protein water or decaff green tea sweetened with torani's sugar free syrup. All day I set my timer for 10 minutes and when it goes off I drink. I am trying to train myself to drink enough and not too much at a time.

Keep trying to find something you like to drink because you have to get those fluids in. Herbal tea, iced or hot, there are tons of flavors. Have you tried all the different crystal light flavors? There are many different ones and you could dilute it to half strength or quarter strength so its not so sweet. Try coconut water, really refreshing and not sweet, it has great electrolytes to rehydrate you (but you can't drink a lot every day because it has some calories, but not sugar). Have you tried putting cucumber slices and mint sprigs in a water pitcher and chilling it (out of this world delicious!) Use the timer idea to remind you. You will feel better. Good luck TGirl.
