I do howeer have a new craving for salty stuff, like never before.. I have never been a chips person and now I find myself wanting them. I don't eat regular chips but occassionaly for lunch I will get pop chips (100 calories) and a scoop of tuna and eat together......so not horrible......but not great either.........
one slice, based off 12 slices in a cake, with the frosting is still about 300 calories...
so this is definately a TREAT for SPECIAL OCCASIONS....
but they saved me from certain disaster last Sunday afternoon at the quarterly family birthday party...
I don't dump either Hope, and like yourself...sometimes wish like hell I did...it would make it easier to make the right choices.....sigh...it is what it is...
I am so happy to have this group with whom I can still share the good as well as the bad days.
@ Rhonda, Thank-you so much for your understanding and support. Please know that it means so much. This trip is forever. Anyone that thinks "I will never be on a diet again" is fooling themselves. Perserverace, understanding and love for ourselves and each other is where it's at.
@ Luweez, That salad sounds like my Aunts Ambrosia (which means food of the gods) I would love the recipe. It was my favorite.
@ Jen, You gotta do what you gotta do : ) I had a couple of one night stands with a few handfuls of chips (salty, crunchy) The difficult part was that others in the home were eating them and the chips were finding a way in my home. I found a happy solution by buying the chips that the chip fan in my house likes in their preferred flavor which is super hot. I can only nibble one and my mouth gets so hot I couldn't eat another. Problem solved. I happily bring home bags for him (he needs to gain weight)
@Elizabeth, Are you kidding me! Sugar free cake! I am really not big into cake (not sweet enough) but I did make a desert called "Cherries in the snow" for a grieving family recently which uses a cake recipe. It's a simple but yummy and pretty cake that basically requires a cake mix, pidding and canned cherries. I had used half sugar canned cherries and S/F pudding (thats all I had) but if I could incorporate the S/F cake mix I could be onto something! Thanks for the tip. I will be looking out for that product.
@behe00, Now thats what I'm talking about. I can't understand where this sudden craving is comeing from but sometimes I can't stand it. Also when the temptation to eat them is worth getting sick over this is a problem. I said I didn't dump but I never said I feel great afterwords. I think the thing that has helps the most so far is not to let this stuff in the house. My problem was that we had a recent death (my BFF's father) and all these sweets came poring into the house (beyond my control). I intend to stick with my prtien icecream, S/F offerrings that I can find or make (Eggface Cannolli sounds like a good place to start).
@ sweet74, This will prevent weightloss. Like Eggface we'll just have to be creative and cook or way around it.
Once again I am grateful to have this support group to share my triumphs as well as my failures. I have been on this board for almost 1.5 years. I appreciate the love and understanding that I offer to others in tough times recipricated to me when I falter. I don't pretend to be perfect or judge. I don't radiate sunshine everyday nor am I the face of gloom.
It is what it is.

Thats why I call myself, Hope

Today was the third try and let me tell you THE THIRD TRYS THE CHARM!
I finally made 2 quarts of the most amazing chocolate chocolate cadbury caramilk liquer lice cream imaginable!
Yes I added a tiny bit of leftover Cadbury Caramilk Liquer that had been sitting in my cabinet since Xmas.
There was such a small amount I was going to toss it but I am glad I didn't. I also used cookies and creme protien powder and a couple caps of chocolate Torani.
Oh my my my..... I am so happy my friend bought me this icecream maker for my Birthday! I highly and strongly recommend buying one. Not only will they pay for themselves but they are a practical place to put protien powder and THEY'RE FUN!!!!
