When I first started this process at the end of April my surgeons office gave me a list of questions to ask my insurance company.
Is GBS coverd? Yes
Do I have a deductible? Yes $150
Do I have a copay for the hospital stay? Yes $300
Do I have a co insurance for the surgery? No
What is my total out of pocket cost? $450 (no including copays for all of the Dr. Appointments.)
Ok well yesterday I went on my insurances website and I noticed that it looked updated so I started looking around and found a section on coverages and there was a tab for weight loss surgery so I clicked it. It says covered in network co insurance $3,000!!! WHAT???
That is not what I was told at the end of April! I have to call them first thing on Monday to see what the heck is going on. Not sure if the person I talked to gave me the wrong info (I have their name, date and time I called) or if they changed their coverage?
Regardless I am going forward with my surgery scheduled for 9/12 and I will set up a payment plan with the hospital. Ugh I wish things would just go my way once in a while!

What bothers me is I asked very specific questions. They should have to notify you for significant changes in your policy.
It's not unheard of, but a bit uncommon for coverage to change so drastically in the middle of a coverage year.
