Earlier this year I meet with a surgeon about WLS and found out my out of pocket of expense be about 900, that is not to bad. However, today I meet with another surgeon just his cost will be about 900. I was informed to call the hospital to found out what i will have to pay. This makes me very nervous. I will be spending one night in the hospital. That bill would be at least 2000+. I am not sure which facility I am going to use. Anybody have any suggest?

well you need to ask if they charge extra over and above your insurance for like a PA that helps them in surgery. Also have you met your deductible? That makes a difference then whatever your OOP (out of pocket) is left will be what you have to pay.

there is a surgeon here in colorado that has a PA that attends the surgery and he isn't covered by the insurance. It is always wise to talk to your insurance personally.

I am guessing you are not using insurance. I know you will need an anesthesiologist as well as your dr. and the hospital stay. Best of luck with all.

Oh, I read that wrong... you are asking about your out of pocket. Yes, make sure all the players are on your insurance. sometimes one of them is not and then your charge is more for that out of network person. I had that happen with the anesthesiologist when my gall bladder was removed.

Here most things for the hospital are seperate charges. Any specialist that may be called, anestesia, any tests such as xrays and the radiologist to read them sends his own bill. be sure to check with your insurance yourself also because they may cover more then the drs office thinks. My friends doc told her she had to go to this one hospital 90 min away but she looked into it and will be having her surgery closer to home.
