Congratulations! My surgery was the last one of the day and I was the second one out by 12 or 1:00 by the next day. I had no complications. If all goes well you should be home for Christmas !

I spent one night in the hospital after surgery. After surgery, If you can get up and walk, and all your bodily functions are working (urinate and bowel movement), your BP and temp are in the normal range, you will probably be discharged. The first few days at home can be a little rough, so take it easy on yourself!
Christmas Eve is just a date-December 24th. You can always arrange to celebrate Christmas with your daughter any day of the year.
Best of everything to you. You must be soooo excited! You will be giving yourself the best Christmas present imagined! Be sure to take photos of yourself on Christmas 2015. When Christmas 2016 arrives, take another photo. Wow! When you compare the pix you won't believe your eyes! You might even want to make a Christmas ornament with the pix. I used photo editing with a double exposure. I had my "new look" self-imposed over my "old look"

Joannanotti makes a good point with photos. I was encouraged to take monthly photos with the same pose in the same location. I inserted them into a Word document so that I have a whole page of comparison photos all in one place. The person who encouraged me to take photos had a small photo album. Doing this really helped to keep my head aware of the reality of the changes in my body. I didn't have any trouble accepting how I looked as a result. I still have my the paper taped up to see as I enter my closet.

The sooner you get up to walk around in the hospital the better. I took my cup and sipped while I walked. Helps with the cotton mouth from the drugs too. Each time I walked I went further until I made it all the way around the hall loop. You definitely won't be laying around sleeping!

Congrats on your date! I was in the hospital for 2 days, but I had the sleeve, so a little longer stay and healing process.
Like they've already said, get up walking as soon and often as you can and keep on sipping! Merry Christmas.

Congratulations on setting your date! I just found out today my surgery is moved from the 23rd to the 24th of December so I think I will do a Christmas celebration with my kids on the night of the 23rd. My doctor has suggested that I will get out of the hospital on the 26th. Hopefully I can get out early and go home on Christmas day too.

What a wonderful Christmas gift; congratulations! My father always said that we shouldn't wait til Thanksgiving to eat turkey, or for Valentine's Day to say you love someone. The date on the calendar, December 25th, is only a date. You can choose to celebrate Christmas any time you want. Congrats again!
