Since I complained about my husband being a butt head and unsupportive I want to share the good things too. We finally had a real good heart to heart discussion and while he still doesn't want me to do it he is being very kind.
Yesterday we went grocery shopping and he chose to get sandwich stuff to eat while I am on the pre-op diet. Today, I insisted he cook himself something and he finally did. He went outside and fixed a pan of fried taters and ramps on the grill so that it would not permeate throughout the house.
He told me he was going to do his best to be supportive because he knew the pre-op diet was all mind power. Thankful that he is coming around.

I am happy your hubby is coming around.
I think a lot of time they are just scared... Don't know how they will handle everything.... But once they see we are OK, they tend to come around a little more...
My hubby has been very supportive and I am thankful! He goes to my NUT visits when he can, has attended all but 1 of the face to face support groups, and is going to my NUT classes (the first of 2 is tonight) with me... It is good to have him hear stuff from others, stuff I've told him, but now he really hears it cause its not coming from me! :)
However, lately he has said things like "are you going to be a basket case too for awhile after surgery?" and I tell him yes, probably so... he asks if I'm still going to do it, and I say yes... Then he asked if I'm worried about my arms turning into wings so much am I still going to have surgery? and I say yes... he says but what if I end up with wings? (LOL!) And I say then I'll deal with it then and no I won't like it and yeah I'll whine about it... These questions go on and on... I think hes starting to get worried... And I think he is wondering how can I do it if all of this is going to happen, and worries how he is going to cope and stay supportive... And he wonders if I am really sure I want to do it... and all the rest.
As my surgery gets closer, and I get more nervous, I have to remember he too is experiencing similar things as well. :) We have to be strong for each other. He needs to see how resolved I am in doing this regardless of the not so fun parts... and I need to know he's there for me even thru the not so fun parts :)
I am real happy to hear yours is coming around! And yeah, I think they get scared for us cause they love us :)
