can't eat

I know the hold purpose of the surgery was to loose weight but I didn't know that every thing that I eat will make me sick!! jello, tuna, chicken only water is stay down. I don't know what to do but I'm not liking this! At first I thought I was eating to fast so I start measure my food 4oz nope that not eat I can't even get all that down. I know that I am not getting enough protein down because I am so tried but I can't. What make thing worst is i'm hungry. I know I am just stress for nothing but I don't want to end in the hospital from lack of fluids. Any advice please!!!

4 oz seems like a LOT to me. I can eat maybe a tablespoon or so. Have you tried just ONE tbsp? Wait a bit, and then try another. I still get ill if I eat more than a few TBSP at a time :)

I agree, 4 oz is a lot! I can eat certain amounts, depending on what it is. Now I can drink 4 oz of juice, or broth, in about 30 mins. I can eat a tsp of tuna, or chicken salad, and I can eat maybe half of a scrambled egg, (slightly under actaully) I will be 1 month out on the 12th. My Dr wants me to stick with pureed, still. Since I can't come close to intake my protein with the amounts I eat. He told me focus onmy protein shakes & water. realisticly I will not have room, if I do, try a bite or two of something. Now everyone is different. But you dont need to measure out 4oz for yourself, just eat til you feel the sensation of not longer being hungry. I am not sure how far out you are, but for me right now. I have not had an appetite, yet, no stomach growling, I eat & drink because I know I have too.

that good to know. the paperwork said i should get 4oz protein a day. i'm so tried i know i not doing half of that. protein shakes and my pouch don't like each other. lol

I'm 7 months out and if I ate 4 ounces I would get sick. I eat either 2 ounces or 1/2 a cup at a time

The first couple months can totally suck!! It's almost impossible to get all the protein in at first without protein drinks. Keep trying them until you find one you can tolerate. However, if you are throwing them up, make sure you are drinking enough water. Dehydration sucks. You may be eating too much, too quickly, or your pouch may just be picky. You'll figure out the formula for you but it may take some time. Sounds a little gross, but when I eat I check my spit after each bite. If it starts to thicken at all, I stop eating!

Another possibility is that you are developing a stricture (when the new connection between the stomach and intestines "over-heals" and gets too small for food to move through. Fortunately, it can easily be fixed.

Hang in there! You'll get it figured out. It will get better!!
