I ordered myself a dehydrator so I can make my own beef jerky! I got a notice that it shipped so it will be here in time to make some jerky this weekend. I don't understand why those little bags you buy at the grocery store are so darn expensive!?!

let us know how this goes, recipes, etc. I used to eat the ones at the store, then I read the package... they contain msgs! I nearly puked right there! Don't wanna do that again!

I have a recipe for deer sausage. It can be used as a jerky recipe too. I tried several different recipes in my dehydrator and my crew at work liked this deer sausage recipe dehydrated the best! I will try posting it as a photo and see if it works in My Photos

I have eaten a very littel jerky. I didn't eat the dry hard kind. This was more rubbery. I was real careful to chew it to a pulp. I think it would be a bad idea to swollow a chunk. That's just my personal thoughts.

I don't eat it every day but I like to bring some with me if I am going to be out all day and need a little protien boost.

I also took it with me when I was at Disney World in February, it saved me one night when we were at the park late and I couldn't find anything that was good for me to eat.

I think the store bought kind is loaded with salt, so that is why I am going to make my own.

I haven't had any problems digesting it. I just make sure I chew it really well.

My surgeon prefers we use turkey jerkey. I found some at Sam's club and actually prefer the turkey's consistancy over the beef's. It wasn't as dry and tough - easier to chew down:)
