So last night around 9 I started to have really sharp pains in my left side. It was so incredibly painful I had to go to the ER. The asked me for a sample of urine and of course water made me nausious so i was unable to give them a sample for the first hour and a half. After resulting to a cathetor ( not to comfortable when you are awake) and still not getting much urine they sent me in for a CAT skan. Spontaneously one hour after the cathetor I was not only able to urinate several times but all the pain stopped........ i had a kidney stone. Out of all this pain came a couple good things and kind of wow moments for me. First, I was handed one of those standard size robes not the extra large ones like I had while having GBS. Surprisingly, It Fit!!! It even tied up in the back:) Second, I fit into the CAT skan machine. Post surgery i was not able to have a normal skan i had to go to a special facitity that could accomadate for someone over 300 lbs. Not this time, they wheeled me in and I had not embarrassing conversation about me "fitting" in the machine.
I wanted to post this for anyone that has similar symptoms so they may know what might be happening asa well as share my good side of the night....... 50 lbs in 2 months and I couldnt be happier especially now that the stones are out :)

Long reply. Not trying to steal this thread but it is kind of related.
The reason my mom is suing the hospital for a botched hysterectomy is not because it was botched but because we took her into the emergency room when started having severe pain in her abdomen a few days after her surgery and even though she could not produce a urine sample after an hour of trying they sent her home saying this was to be expected after a serious surgery like she had. WRONG ANSWER! I didn't know it then but the lack of being able to pee should have been a red flag for everyone in that emergency room. It turned out that during the hysterectomy her bowel was cut and her poop was leaking into her abdomen. When we took her in the first time she was septic. The second time a day later her kidneys had shut down completely and she had to be put on dialysis. They gave her a 3% chance to live. She lived. My advice to everyone is run don't walk to the next emergency room if you are sent home after not being able to produce a urine sample. It is simply not normal and a sign of bad things.
