I liked several protein powders prior to surgery that I could not drink after. The syntraz nectar chocolate truffle was the only one I liked before that I could tolerate afterwards. Right now I am drinking Oh Yeah premixed protein drinks that I get at the Vitamin Shoppe.

I liked Unjury both before and after surgery. I ordered a sampler pack to see what flavors I liked. Couldn't stand the chicken soup kind at all - yuck. I mostly use the strawberry, vanilla and unflavored. I use Torani and DaVinci sugar free syrups to create my own flavors. I also do a protein shake with Crystal Light to Go. During the liquids phase I made them with milk to get extra protein, now I often make them with just ice and a little water.

I just discovered Dannon Light and Fit Greek Yoghurt. One container has only 80 calories and 12gms of protein!! I'm not generally a greek yoghurt fan but I enjoy this. Just make sure you stri it up well. Have also done regular Light and Fit and also Activia non fat / no sugar yoghurt, but they have nowhere near the protien content.

Like Senecagrl, I really like Unjury too. Unlike her, I love the chicken soup flavor. I can't use artifical sweeteners, so I use their unflavored. I also really like their cheese sauce on steamed fresh veges.

As far as yogurt, I use Fage 0% plain, I blend it with equal parts fresh fruit (strawberries, raspberries or peaches are my favorite), and a 1/2 packet Truvia or nectresse sweetener.

Hey Loveto. That's funny about the chicken soup, but it sounds like I'll have to try the cheese sauce. Do you know if you can get those in sample size too?

Just curious what's the difference between an artificial sweetener and truvia? I use Truvia, but presumed it was in the same category as all the rest.

I used bariatric advantage Preop and couldn't gag it down postop. Now I use the Synthrax nectar and love it. I would buy a few samples of different things to have on hand postop and see what you like and can tolerate.

they are stiil out there and availible..and premixed(male thing)..i loved the strawberry,,,it was my bestest one!!!

If you have the Kroger grocery chain try their Carbmasters yogurt. Otherwise, like Senecagrl I LOVE the Dannon light'n'fit Greek yogurt, especially the cherry flavor. Also, try laughing cow cheese wedges for adding a little extra protein. I used to leave them to warm to room temp and then stir them into my yogurt to make it more creamy and add that extra protein. Be careful of yogurt, many have lots of carbs even though the calories might be low. Try to keep yogurt carbs under 15 if you can.

Many of the protein powders I tried before surgery tasted too sweet afterward, so like everyone else has said, don't go overboard on stocking up, especially if you have to pay for shipping!

And look up PB2 from netrition.com if you like peanut butter. It has a nice toasty taste but it's powdered and very low fat. I was surprised that I actually like it but other folks on here tried it and liked it so I got brave. It mixes well into shakes, and then later in a stir fry to give it that Thai taste. Chicken, veggies, and PB sauce, yum!

Because of what you mentioned, I did not try any of the samples pre-surgery. I was concerned about not liking them and I knew that I had no choice to like something ;-)

I am using all Syntrax products. I love the double stuffed cookie, cappichino (when I blend with ice, I swear it tastes like a frappicino) and fuzzy navel (peach).

I find that I don't like any protein powder after surgery. Pure Protein has a drink that I find tolerabel now. 12 oz has 23 grams of protein and 1 gram sugar and it tastes pretty good. @ $8 for 4 at wal-mart. I am thinking about ordering online. I think it's a better value.

Hi I used Lean shakes from GNC the cookies and cream after surgery. I did Unjury prior to surgery but after surgery I couldn't drink it. I tried a lot of other different kinds until I found Lean shake. GNC will let you return them if you don't like them and they also have small packets so you can try different flavors.
I eat the Dannon Greek Yogurt(80 calories) I don't do well with the other Greek yogurts because of the sugar in them. I get the sweats and my stomach doesn't do so well. Good luck on your journey!
