I am not much on vanilla or plain yogurt and I'm trying to figure out what I can do to make things taste better and be prepared with things I can eat in my house after surgery. I was thinking maybe adding some pureed strawberries/blueberries/peaches etc. to my yogurt would be good to add some flavor. The nutritionist doesn't seem to be "hot" on this idea because of the seeds and thinks I should eat baby food instead...an idea I am not keen on at all. What has everyone else done? Has anyone tried this?

You should stay away from berries that have tiny seeds for awhile after surgery. They can aggravate your pouch. I can do it now, but they hurt me for awhile....

baby food is bad for you! full of cornstarch and sugar, and the taste is disgusting. Eat creamed soups, purreed peaches cant hurt, if not packed in sugar if they are rinse them. I used alot of applesauce and yogurt with cinnamon and splenda mmm tastes like apple pie and icecream.

Thanks gals! I have thought about the applesauce and yogurt combination. I plan to use fresh or frozen fruit to puree. Glad to hear that peaches should not be an issue. I do love peaches. :)

the first thing I had to eat in the hospital was pureed berries. they didn't have big ol' seeds in it..but I vividly remember how yummy they were after so many weeks on pure liquids. but I think I was a week out at that point. I had been having some other issues so I was in the hospital 9 days..I think day 7 I got pureed berries..never any issues with the berries..

my latest yummiest thing: make a smoothie with soy slender, greek yogurt, chocolate carnation instant breakfast and peanut butter. I've added a half banana too sometimes and that worked out.

I'm 6 weeks out so still trying new stuff. fresh strawberries and watermelon this week and they were good! I'm eating cantaloupe right now.

How about Torani sugar free syrups in your yogurt? Or mixing it with sugar free fat free pudding powder? Or mixing in the sugar free jam or jelly such as a polaner brand jelly..

It doesn't have to taste bad (as a rule) but I'd be careful with seeds, pits, etc, etc.

I can handle peaches, grapes, pineapple and cantaloupe. But as for berries, the seeds cause alot of people problems. I would add Peaches to my yogurt but not berries

I have a smoothie made with greek yogurt, skim milk, about 5 or 6 frozen strawberries and a half of a small frozen banana about 4 or times a week, typically after I get home from the gym. I started this about 3 months ago, when I was about 4 months out and havent had any problems with them. You might try some of the sugar free torani syrups to flavor your yogurt right now, and add berries later, if your NUT is against it for now?

My nutritionist is against them. Although I ate some blueberries this past week from Fresh Market that did not have any seeds in them (or at least I didn't taste any crunch). I will stick to pureed peaches with the area of the pit cut out just to make sure I'm removing all remanents of the pit. I will also try cinnamon applesauce mixed with vanilla yogurt...seems like it would be yummy. Shelly's blog is also very helpful...thanks everyone!

The sugar free Torani syrups are great for adding flavor to things too. They come in raspberry, strawberry, peach mango, caramel, vanilla, etc. the list goes on and on. I love adding them to greek yogurt and my protein shakes. I buy them on-line from either Amazon or Torani's web site.

Maybe add Crystal Lite (And walmart store brand... more flavors...) powder to your yogurt? Walmart has strawberry, and that is my favorite flavor of yogurt. I haven't tried it, but I think it would work. :)
