Anyone with Rheumatoid Arthritis who had WLS?

Hi - I was wondering if there was anyone here that has Rheumatoid Arthritis and also went through Weight Loss Surgery? I'd like to hear your experiences and if it was more difficult or if it was successful in aleviating joint pain to lose the weight.

I have MS and my mother has Rheumatoid Arthritis and I know that she and I have a lot of similar symptoms and I had Gastric Bypass in September of 2011.I was in the hospital for 5 days. I had a very hard time in Recovery for at least 2 months. I felt like I was going to die. My surgeon said I was fine it was me that felt so bad. I have done IV steroids at least 4 times a year foe the past 4 years(IV is alot stronger then oral) and my surgeon said sewing together my insides was like sewing together wet toilet paper. I had no leaks but did wear a prevenatve drain for 4 or 6 weeks. OK all that said my surgeon said I did great and now I am thrilled I had it. I have lost 108 pounds and it is so much easier to move around.
Be careful about any medications you have to take daily. One of mine that I have to taper off of they didn't want to give me in the hospital. I had to throw a fit because I knew wha would happen if I quit taking that pill cold turkey. So they called in my surgeon and he approved opening the capsules and putting it in a tiny amount of water.
