Any tips to battle cravings?

Hello,



My GBS was around 4.5 years ago and I have noticed in the past year that on occasion I feel hungry again. I get the urge to snack or nibble on things. Obviously I don't want to but sometimes I give in. Does anyone have any tips to help me avoid the cravings or maybe suggestions for something healthy to nibble on? It is mainly in the evenings, during the day I'm ok for the most part.

You are not alone. Tips to avoid cravings? Well, the first thing is not to avoid, but instead tune into your body and mind to discover what it is that you are really craving. Are you craving more fun or sweetness in your life? Are you bored, lonely, angry, tired, restless, stressed etc? We need to identify what we are truly craving in our lives and seek to fill those needs with something other than food. Afternoons and evenings are my most challenging times as well. In transitioning from work to home we have to find different ways to settle in rather than eating. Sitting in front of a tv does not help. I read, play piano, play my jigsaw puzzle app, journal, and stop to give my full attention to each one of my babies (cats). Keeping snacks like cheese sticks, nuts, homemade protein pop sickles, and even precut veggies with humus dip helps gives me better choices. And I drink lots of water, even though it is evening. We all have to find out how to make better choices for what works for us. Hope this helps!

Thank you for your reply! I hadn't thought of the emotional side of things yet. I guess boredom is a cause that could be avoided. I tend to watch tv and have the laptop on in the evenings. I also have the tendency to go to bed too late, which means the time gap between dinner and going to sleep is sometimes 5 or 6 hours..so I get hungry again too. One way to solve this would be to go to bed sooner. Do you have a recipe for the proteine popsicles?

Just make a protein shake/smoothie and pour into Popsicle ice tray. Target and Walmart supposedly carry them.
