Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
I have found that in the last month, especially since I healed after gallbladder surgery, I have been more hungry and it seems like I am able to eat a bit more at meal times than I used to. I'm still not eating a cup of food, though. I religiously drink 64oz of water everday (sugar free popsicles are my treat for the last 4 ounces of fluid as a reward to myself for making it to the 60oz mark). I found that if I do not do this, I get constipated too easily. Since I've been doing this much water, I have not had problems with constipation. I also eat 1 serving of prunes per day (about 5 prune) and this helps, as well.
I also work out regularly. I don't walk for exercise everyday, but I go to the gym 3 times a week and do body shaping, core training, and then I also do a workout of 40mins of cardio paired with weights. So maybe that's why I can eat more than 900 cal and still lose?
At the same stage I was eating about 600 to 700 calories (with difficulty) and about 70 grams of protein a day.. are you prioritizing dense protein?
If you tracked your food for a week would it look like mostly protein or mostly carbs? Are you making good choices? Can you do a session with the nutritionist as a tune up?
My maintenance intake is about 1,200 calories to give you a point of comparison and I'm 42 and about 5'4' exercise regularly, etc. But everyone's body works differently..
