I'm still early on and thought I should still have plenty of insulation, but, yes, I do find myself getting colder.

I've noticed this is a place where we can share, so I hope this isn't TMI. I play music on stage weekly at a show and always carry a rag with me because I sweat so much. I hope and pray that is over now.

iPick - nothing is every TMI - we are all here for the same reason. Thanks for your input. Have an extra blanket? LOL

My guess is that when you were heavy, you had "more" to keep ya warm!!

I was the same way, I used to get so hot! I am not AS hot, overheated as I was, but we'll see when this summer hits!

At least when we are cold, we can always put a blanket or socks or extra sweater on, but in the summer..>All we can do is go swimming, sit in AC, or get naked! LOL!

Boo - significant other screams when we snuggle because I am so cold. Last night I went to sleep fully dressed, sweat pants, socks, jacket - how cool is this when I should be showing off the new me in a new neglacee? I agree I didn't like it being that hot either, are we every satisfied?

around the time the cold part got me I also had my thyroid become more underactive. I thought I was going to die. my mom bless her heart in april went out and found probably the last electric blankie in town these fools apparently think winter ends in the north county and every one else had them off thee shelves. :)

also they make those hot things that hunters use get a couple for your hands and feet they do have body ones but I find if my toes are warm im warm. sams club sells them in bulk. bjs or cosco may we don't have those but they are bulk retail.

oh the blankets you can get with dual controls so your so cant whine at you about it being to hot.........

I will be 8 weeks post op on the 28th and from the day of the surgery I was and am always cold. I was told it is very common in WLS. Part from the surgery itself your hormones are changing and reacting differently and with rapid weight loss you are loosing insulation. I find if I walk on the tredmill for a bit it helps warm me up, and of course layers of clothing especially here in MN with the bitter cold that we have been having.

Thanks I am thinking the same thing. Saw Dr. today and I am down another 22 lbs. They would not confirm that I am loosing the insulation and that is why I am cold, rather they are sending me for thyroid testing. More money for nothing. They are also sending me for a swallow test to make sure nothing is getting stuck. I explained that I am always on the run and not sitting and eating like a person. Driving and eating and running. But no = we have another test lined up. I was put on Nexium for the next 4 weeks and then go back again to see if the pains in my stomach that I am getting is from that. The cold - I am sure is from the weight loss and nothing more.

ah but do not discount thyroid so quickly. that little bugger can wreak havoc in your system. it can be the cause of extreme cold (along with the surgery) you are having stomach pain? it can cause that all the way to heart disease. it is a nasty little glad that has its paws in many many parts of your system. I used to have a medical book all thyroid it was actually amazing and scary.

your team wants to rule out things that can be causing your symptoms. my first surgeon did not want to hear about my problems post op. I suffered a year with him blowing me off he was 3 hrs away too. then a year looking for another bariatric surgeon who found I needed a revision . just stick with them let them do what they do best and that is treat you.

At first I like to froze. I was cold all the time. I am still a little more cold natured than the wife but not as bad as last year.
I've heard several folks mention being cold after surgery.

I'm a little over a year out and I'm freezing all the time. I asked for Cuddle Duds (thinner long underwear) for Christmas. I need to dress in layers now to stay warm. I work in a cooler office and keep a smuggled heater under my desk, a lap blanket, a shawl and gloves without fingers to stay warm enough to work. My doctor says its just lack of insulation now. Strange side effect from surgery.

YES My boyfriend and i always agrued over the heat.. Now I am the one freezing. He loves it LOL

Oh my goodness! I can't wait! This past summer I could not walk across the room without breaking in to a sweat! I will not mind adding more clothes!
