As this new year begins... I sit here and ponder how differently I am entering it compared to a year ago... I have always been an optimist, and usually have a smile on my face. But the last couple of years, while having been full and happy times, has also been a scary time for me. My health was getting so out of control and it scared me. Scared me B A D! I was beginning to think I was not going to be able to accomplish all I want to accomplish. I was beginning to think I would not be around to see my grand kids grow up. That I would not be around for my sons... And I was really, ever so sincerely scared. My mobility was about gone as well. I dreaded just the short walk to the bus stop, i took the handicapped shuttle at school just to get around campus... I used a cane almost all the time.
But now... this new year ahead of me... I 'm filled with a new outlook. I am beginning this year a 100 pounds (YEAH! ONE HUNDRED POUNDS) thinner than I was last New Years. My health has turned around. I am no longer diabetic, no longer take high blood pressure meds, my cholesterol is NORMAL! And the woman who had to take the handicapped shuttle went jogging the other day and plan to do much more jogging once my broken toe heals!
I will be here to see my family grow and thrive... I will be able to successful in grad school... my dream of opening my own practice one day seems so reachable now...
This new life I've been given is a gift that I will not waste! It is work... this new life... and i will stumble and fall... I will make mistakes... But I will get back up and keep at it... because I cannot go back to being that scared woman who was afraid of tomorrow.
I am so grateful for the support everyone here and elsewhere has given me. For understanding this was something i had to do, risks and all... because I was at the end of options... I am thrilled i can be around for my sons and my beautiful grand kids and the future ones I've yet to meet, because I cannot imagine NOT being here for them! I am thankful for my daughter-in-law who has become a dear friend over this last year and has supported me every step of the way! I am thankful for my niece who helped me get the focus and strength i needed to work towards recovering my health! I am thankful I have a loving, supportive and understanding husband who is going thru this with me, who has to deal with my ups and downs while I learn who I am all over again. I love them all so very much and would not have the success I've had without them!
I am truly blessed... And I am going to take this coming year and make the very best of it possible! ....just saying! I am going to be around a long time to come!

I know what you mean about the meds. I just posted about my achievements, and how I feel since the surgery, earlier, **see my post**, and I feel so much better already!
This IS our new lease on life, and we all have to just grab it, and coast thru, and live a happier and healthier life!
