Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
Don't let anyone get you down about your surgery. People who have never been fat and tried over and over to lose weight and failed have no idea what it is like to be in our place. You did what was right for you and for your health and that is all that matters. Some people are just ignorant.
I am 3 weeks post-op and I had a HORRIBLE time with liquids. I can eat all kinds of foods like fish, chicken, turkey, protein bars, cream soups, yogurt, cottage cheese, boca burgers... I'm still supposed to be on the mostly liquid stage but I was SO SICK. The only thing that made me feel better was when I had a few bites of something so I advanaced myself in my diet. (I do not recomend that anyone else do that - I just did what I thought was best for me.) Since I have been eating I feel amazing. And I drink water and Gatorade Series 03 Recover. As far as the pain on your left side... I think you should call your doc... that's a LONG time to be having the same pain.
I decided from the start only to weigh myself every other week and at the drs office. It saves alot of stress and if you are eating according to plan you will loose pounds and/or inches. I had surgery on the 6th of the month so I weigh on the 6th, 16th and the 26th.
On the issue of pain on your left side please bring it to you dr attention immediately and let him/her decide if should be looked at. Pain is not normal for this amount of time. d
There are a lot of people with prejudice against GBS. You just have to ignore them.
The only liquids Ive had problems with are protein drinks. They can easily make me nauseated.
I weigh myself every day, but dont let it affect my moodI just use the information to adjust, if necessary. My Dr. didnt give my any instructions about it.
Congratulations on not needing the oxygen any more!!
