Well sweety. I was scared too about no help after coming home, and I didn't get any either. My husband couldn't take off from work. I have three kids, ages 3, 4 and 5. I did just fine all by myself taking care of me and them too. Still cooking all the meals for the family and housework too. I made it, I am sure you'll do just fine. Just take it easy and don't push yourself for that first 2 weeks. But I was able to get around fine, just a little pain, but that's what the meds are for right? But I didn't feel like I needed anyone to nurse me.

Thank you. That makes me feel better. At least I don't have any little kids to take care of, so I should be able to take care of myself.

It is not that you need alot of 24/7 help. it is that you just had major surgery and shouldn't be alone for the first few days. At the very least you need someone to bring you home from the hospital and make sure you get your post-op prescriptions. And you need some contacts set up ahead of time to call if something goes wrong and you need a hand , like someone to go to the drug store to get you something to relieve side-effects (dont know what I would have done without my SO when I got a killer bout of constipation), Not to mention the healing power of having caring people with you. Or just someone to get you out of the house while you cant drive so you don't go insane with cabin fever. This is really NOT something you can do alone, nor should you. This is a time where YOU get to come first, no matter what everyone else is doing, and without guilt. IME being hyper-independent is NOT a healthy thing in this case. The most important step in recovery and wellness is asking for help. No steps after can be successful without it.

I went through the COE bullshit with a local hospital who kept claiming they were going to "get it any day now". After months of that I found another hospital. Perhaps with what you shared above the delay will work in your favor - more time to get things in order.

I didn't have anyone that stayed with me . I got my prescriptions filled before surgery. Did all My shoppingto make suer I had everything I needed. I slept on my couch first couple of days which I had put sheets onday before surgery but third tried sleeping in my bed. I had gotten a flat of walmart brand jello sugar free for 12 cups was $2.50broth I used coffee maker for hot water. I had alot of people calland check on me. My pastor and his wife took me to hospital and brought me home next day my daughter couldn't get off work so I swallowed my pride and ask at church if any one could take meand I even offered to pay for gas and my pastor wouldn't accept. I drove my self to fu apt 3weeks later.Pray and you'll get your anwers God was with me and he'll be with you
