Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
Some people are just made that way and there are probably a lot of variables that influence it. I think hormones, genes, lifestyle, the altered state of the body after childbirth, and many other things come together to create the perfect storm in many people.
Now I feel a little indignant when someone suggests that you can lose weight just by not eating as much and exercising more. That is not always the answer. I actually feel sorry for Oprah. She has all the advantages and yet she still struggles. I think it's because she has the perfect storm too but she's convinced that if she just tries harder she will beat it.
As I told my husband - I wanted to be able to go kayaking and rock wall climbing with him and our sons - I didnt want to be a bystander because of my weight. The pain in my joints the diabetes all compound it. Looking forward to longer life without complications such as kidney failure loosing limbs was enough for us to say yes.
Have a great day! Back to work :(

Food is not looked at like an addiction. Would someone say "why are you going to rehab? Just quit drugs on your own"? Never!
I have given in to my addiction. I have surrendered myself. It is a proven fact, backed up by many healthcare studies that diet and excercise alone is not successful in treating the morbidly obese.
If it was a matter or eating and excercise...no problem! We have all been on 100 diets but no one has ever suggested looking into why we eat!!!
Also with RNY my pouch fills quickly and I feel satisfied unlike a diet where I was HUNGRY all day and counting the minutes till my next feeding.

I am psyched for the surgery and will do everything I possibly can to make it a success.
Fact 2, we have tried how many diets and lost that magic 50 lbs or so , then with get frustrated, maybe limited by other health issues, and seem to stay at that spot, til we get so frustrated and gain that and more back. Right?
. Fact 3,my surgeon mentioned that in the morbidly obese, diet and exercise alone are successful in less than 2% of us. If you have Diabetes, the chance to simply get rid of it, seems almost enough right there!
Need more reasons? You deserve to be healthy !
