I have only been able to tolerate low fat crackers and I am 13 weeks out. Tried to toast some whole grain bread, one slice and my pouch immediately started to cramp. I am interested in hearing what others have experienced too. I have decided to wait a month or so and try it again.

I am 8 weeks out and I am told not to go near bread for a year and then be careful of it lumping. I don't know...bread is a trigger food for me. Even if they said I could have it...I will not. Take care, I too would like to hear what others will say...joyce

Hi Alisa..I am 10 weeks out and have had no problem with bread, although I only eat whole wheat or polish rye and eat just under 2 slices (my hubby cuts off the crust for me since it is a little drier for me) during the week but try to avoid on the weekends. The bread gives me 7 grams of protein and with the turkey breast I put on it puts my protein at around 15 grams total....HOWEVER...this is 2 separate meals for me. I eat 1/2 on my way to work at 6:30am (I drive an hour one way) so I eat really slow and chew and the other 1/2 I eat around 10am this way I will try and work off the carbs during the day. Every one of us is different and react differently to the different foods...while I tolerate bread I can't tolerate anything sweet (so no crystal light, protein shakes etc.) so my nut knows I eat other items to compensate some protein.

IMHO avoid it as long as you can. I said goodbye to it 4+ years ago and haven't looked back... I'm sure I could eat it but choose not to... over indulgence in bread, pasta, rice, potatoes were big reasons I needed to get my guts rearranged. Some people's triggers were fatty foods, chocolate bars, snacking all the time, chips, whatever you know your demons.

Bread is dead! lol... I would rather have a LF cracker or WG pasta with seafood. I make sauces out of protein soup mixes. Maybe a little sweet potato? Not sure about GBS.

I have avoided bread as well. I also for the most part avoid pasta and rice as much as possible. I try to stick to protein and low carb food items.

My program says protein, veggies and fruits with virtually no rice, pasta, or breads since they just sit in the stomach and have very little protein value. I don't eat but only a bite here and there.
