Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
Read all you can and research to make an educated decision about surgery.
For me it was a no brainer. My diabetic doctor told me if I didn't do something I didn't have much time left. He recommended an RNY. And sent me to see the surgeon who did it.
Very happy with the results. Lost 120 pounds in a year and am NO LONGER a diabetic!
It is overwhelming. It isn't the easy way out but it does work! It's a lifesaving tool.

I know in the beginning all this is overwhelming and gets frustrating with all the hoops to jump, but can a sure you it's all well worth it!
After surgery, you will realize and appreciate all the months you had to wait for preparation and knowledge!
I just read a little about gastroparesis...since the RNY removes the pyloric valve, it sounds like it would solve that issue for you.
Only you can decide if living life at a normal weight is worth the permanent changes you will have to make. It took me 5 years to decide I could live without Diet Coke and pizza. You know what? My only regret is that I wish I hadn't waited those 5 years. I've gone from 300+ lbs to 125 lbs. Not having to carry around those extra 175 lbs is liberating, physically and emotionally.
I'm glad you found us. Hang around, read lots, and ask questions. Here's to a healthier you!

I would also recommend this book which I personally found very helpful http://www.amazon.com/The-Weight-Loss-Surgery-Workbook/dp/1572248998
It is a workbook that will help you sort out answers to alot of questions that will help you to validate your decision to proceed. I believe it also talked about having a supportive environment .
Best of luck through the process, and welcome !
