Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.

It's been said over and over agin: WLS is a tool. It's only a miracle if you do the work (especially the head work) that is required and essential for success. It's a lifelong journey with a never ending destination, one step at a time.
Hang in there Marty! You will be a success story!
Best of luck Marty.
I suppose it is all just part of the feelings we all go through before the day.
The process is so much simpler in Australia and in a way i think that might be a disadvantage, I only had 1 appt with surgeon, appt next week with Dietitian, then 1 more with surgeon to empty band then surgery 4 weeks after that. No counselling no Psyche evaluation nothing.
MNMama I don't have any programme just yet, eating what i want at this stage, but Dietitian next friday, I know it will all kick in then. can't wait.
I was interested in a lap band once and changed my mind due to the failures and complications.
The RNY isn't for everyone. It saved my life and I never regretted it. After 3 years I got my weight down, rebounded a little and stabilized, No problem.
We each have to research and make our own educated decision. Our very lives hang in the balance. I agree with the folks that have already replied.
Shelly's been here and quoted often. She's bright, creative with her recipes, and quite the advocate for WLS success. There are great links to patient education sites. That will give you a good start.
Perhaps you could ask him/her if any of his/her patients are willing to talk to you?
