Yes! Life still wears you down sometimes but I feel so much better.

Yes, psychologically I still have issues to work through, but physically I feel so much better now (lost 60 lbs so far) and feeling better physically helps a whole lot with all the rest of it. More stamina, clearer thinking at work, feel like I actually want to do things. It might not fix everything, but it sure does help. Hang in there.

I think your pre-op feelings are quite normal. Surgery doesn't cure everything. After surgery, a little light exercise can help lift your spirits. It's a good idea to bring up these issues with your doc. I'm so sorry your are feeling "blue". Hoping the black cloud moves to another place soon!

You'll want to keep in touch with your medical team, depression can be dangerous if untreated. Perhaps consider temporary treatments to help you through until you get settled into your new normal.

With the hormones and toxins we store in our fat being released, it's not unusual for depression and other chemical and psychological illnesses to be exacerbated during rapid weight loss.

I concur. Depression was getting the better part of me. The doctor finally prescribed something for me. Hope it works out for you. I will keep you informed how its going for me.

I have been on antidepressants for many years, just feels like I am hold, waiting for surgery, 9 weeks yesterday so counting down, it will get here fast no doubt.

You WILL feel better. At 18 months post op I have lots of energy that I couldn't imagine previously, and I have a different outlook on life. I am still on anti-depressants as I was prior to surgery, but all other medications have gone out the window - except for my bariatric vitamins.

Frankly I didn't realize what a lump I felt like, until I didn't feel that way anymore.

Have you been on the same crazy meds (that's what I call them) You might need to change to a different one, if that doesn't work try another one. Our bodies get too use to them. I wish you luck, you can do it. You are in a little hole, but reading your posts, I know you are strong inside. Prayers and hugs.

thanks akgirl about 10 years ago I had an accident and cut my finger off with a power saw. which lead to many anxiety attacks etc etc, a number of changes in meds as i got use to the highest dosage, then after some prayer etc etc went off all meds for a couple of years, ended up a big mistake, then an incident at work which saw me in counselling and part of rehab was to get back to dr and get meds again, so with the 5 years off the original tablet (zoloft) which worked well for many years before, well with the break from them it was decided that maybe they would be ok again as they were out of my system, well good news was it worked, and I am stable on 100mgs for the last 2 years.

2 years ago i also as part of treatment decided to get in shape, and over the year lost 44lbs and got fit and was so impressed with myself and felt good and got lots of comments from people and was being used by my company as an example to other drivers (we have about 20 that are majorly obese) anyway i don't know why, but with Christmas 2014 i just fell off the wagon, and over the last year I gained back almost 60lbs, so feel soooo bad about that, the other thing was when i finally made the appointment to see the surgeon it was an 8 week wait to see him and in his words I thought F@%$ it and gained 20lbs in that 8 weeks. so here i am sitting in limbo, fat as, unfit and out of condition just waiting for the surgery to get me going and motivated, I watch about 2 hours a day on youtube of before and after stories of surgeries, and also found a Dr Matthew Weiner who is brilliant.

also 6 days after my initial consult with the surgeon one of my best friends at work had a massive heart attack (whilst at work) and he died, his death hit me real hard, he was 6'1 and about 400lbs, and when I was on the health kick I spoke to him about his weight and he said he could lose weight if he wanted but at the moment he just couldn't be bothered, well he's dead now.

I know i will be ok, dietitian on 18th Dec and once they say do this and that I know i will follow their instructions to the letter, and in 4 weeks time i will be back here saying i lost 20lbs pre-surgery.

Good deal. I take Citalopram 40mg (Celexa) I do well with this but must take it. I go off for a couple of weeks and I turn into angry wild woman. I don't even like me. haha. You hang in there, you are strong enough.
