We are all different beu, but I was on pain meds for 3 full weeks. Some here have returned to work in 3 weeks, so it's hard to say. It was major surgery and will take time to heal. Your dr. should've sent you home with some pain meds. If not, call him and ask for some.

My situation lasted a little longer than normal probably because I had some fluid pressing on a nerve. Caused a ton of pain. Generally speaking, a good bit of pain after surgery is from gas. Walking is so good for moving it around and dislodging it for all kinds of places it likes to "rest". Hope that helps.

I am 17 days out and the first week was really rough. Days 6 & 7 were my worst, the gas pain was horrible and walking didn't help me pass it. Then on the 8th day something broke loose and I farted all day, thank God! Every day after that has been better. The pain meds didn't help me much and I stopped taking them after the first week. Hang in there, it WILL start to get better!

Hi, I am 6 days post op and so far the gas is the most pain i am having. However i do also get a sharp shooting, spasm feeling pain on the left side of my belly button once my pain meds ware off. Now this really hurts but seems to go away instantly once i take my pain meds.

I am also 5 days post op. I feel some pain but the Dr sent me home woth liquid tylonal & codien So I take it as needed. I am tired alot and having problems sleeping. I go to bed and every 2 hrs I'm up ugggg so irratateing. We all handle pain differently. So either way it will take its time.

It depends on how your body responses after the surgery, you have to remember this is major surgery, and your body is in shock and still trying to adjust.
I was in pain for about 3 weeks after my surgery,and I had an incision that got infected and that hurt like heck for 6 weeks.
