Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
From what I've seen over the past 4 years, most people experience a 10-20 lb "bounce" from their lowest post RNY weight (which is still considered a success when you consider that most of us lose over 100 lbs). However, some people regain most of the excess weight. From my point of view these were people who were not emotionally ready to live life as a healthy person. They still need food emotionallynot as nutrition, but as a way to cope with life.
Food is fuel. Emotions are meant to be felt, not fed.
Maintaining a healthy weight is just as much work as losing it (sometimes harder).
Totally worth it!!

And take what JJ says as gospel :) She knows! :)
That's what keeps me from gaining. I would invite you to give your reasons serious thought and devise something to help you remember your resolve when the going gets tough.
Blessings!

One of my co-workers told me today that a friend of hers not only gained all of her weight back but ultimately died...from alcohol usage. So sad. I thought we weren't able to drink alcohol but evidently there is a lot we CAN do to sabotage meeting our goals. I simply don't intend to test out any of the ramifications of cheating. The surgery is a gift and I want to capitalize on it.
