Greetings DS group. I just had my three year post GBS follow up and wanted to share a few things. First off I feel fantastic and very very blessed. I found this support group three years ago when I two months post op and looking for a way to reverse this terrible choice I thought I made. Lucky for me, the good people here helped guide me forward. Now I have a whole new life and I no longer wish I could do things, I go do them.
During my first two years I played by the books and the program. At the start of my third year I started taking a few chance (drinking and had a few cigs, even though I was never a smoker before). I stopped the cigs after only one weekend and the drinking is now just on rare occasions an often no more than one or two glasses (although I did become a better dance when I was drinking). Keeping the weight off is not as easy as it was the first year post op but it something I know I can do now, as opposed to when I was almost 400 lbs (my before and after pics are in my profile). I learned that the Dr. now want me to add some new vitamins to my daily intake. I have gained 20 lbs since my lowest weight and I have since lost three of them. The Drs are happy if I just lose one per week and I know I can do that. Well I Just wanted to touch base and say hello to old and new friends. Best wishes all. - Paul

My dr office recommended a nut that they work with and I was given very specific instructions on what to eat. When I read some of the items that people are eating early after their surgeries, it messes with my head a little and I've had to disengage from it, as its not good for me.
And one of the gems that I received from your share is that there can be a price to pay for varying from the plan. While I am following directions, something in me wants to stray. Your thoughts and comments here have been really helpful to me and I thank you.
