Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.

Now I can tell you at 5 months out and 95 lbs down, I find all the costs to be more than worth the time and effort it has cost. I am, for the first time in 15 years, living my life again. I can walk without the waddle, I fit in a booth, I don't have to panic everytime I look at sitting in a chair for fear of collapse. I can ride my horses again, I have taken to kayaking, I once again actually enjoy shopping, and even take the time to look and try on instead of just grabbing something I found in my size. Even my feet have shrunk.
I agree with the others... BIG decision!
I can tell you I knew I didn't want the band. Many surgeons are no longer doing it because often people come back and have a revision done or it just does not work all that well. This of course is not true for everyone.... But I know 3 people who were not successful and went back for a revision.
I considered the sleeve... Real hard! And almost did that.
But for me, in the end it came down to this. If I was going to have surgery to help me with this issue... then I was not messing around! And I for sure was only doing it once! When I realized that... I knew RNY was the only way for me to go.
at 2 months out I don't have any regrets!! :)
