Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
As to foods. Keep a daily food diary. I recommend to everyone that they use an app that will calculate protein, carb and fat grams, as well as calories. Tracking that every day is what helps you stay aware of what you are doing and keeping those macro nutrients within your recommended range will help you manage your weight. I use LoseIt.com's smart phone app. It syncs with the web. Having it on my phone makes it really easy for me, but you also can just go to the web to enter your foods there. Check it out. You car search for restaurant and supermarket foods, enter your own recipes or special foods. Very cool app,
Good luck. :)
I'm here for you, although im pre-op....so if you need me just write me or text me.
I know you can do this. Don't get discouraged, if you can help it. You have lost so much weight..this is just a bump in the road. I know you can continue to succeed, just be more strict about your snacks, and set it up so you DON"T have them in the house, or have your daughter hide them!
Hugs,
Boo
Get yourself a pedometer they cost less than $20 for a good one. It will tell you how many syeps you take even just walking around the house. Wear it all day. Build your goal to 10 thousand steps a day. If that is too big of a goal break it done to where it will motivate you but not overwhem you.
I hope that helps. Good luck. Keep your head up. debby
I am almost 3 weeks out. But, I also have a hard time wanting to exercise. For me, it's about doing something I like to do or something fun. I can never get motivated to walk on the treadmill. I have to walk outside. Once I am cleared to, I will be shooting baskets on my nephew's basketball hoop, maybe hitting some tennis balls around with my sister. The key for me is variety, or I get bored exercising.
Good luck and don't hesitate to write - I'll help if I can! :)

but sometimes we just gotta do what we gotta do and quit making excuses for why we are not.
I truly get that it is NOT easy to do! Simple, yes, easy... NO. But the only way things will change is if we change things....
((((HUGS))))
Shelly has wonderful ideas on healthy choices and snacks.
Drink more water....Journal to find out what's eating You. Getting to the bottom of bad choices is sometimes like digging a hole to china, but it we don't do the work we won't reap the reward.
Once you get started you will want to continue everyday! The more weight I lose the more energy I have and the more I want that workout in the morning. I feel so evergized afterward, its crazy!
Take the first step, commit to the walk and just do it! It won't be long and it will be part of your daily routine! and don't forget the music it really does help =)
I, too, need to take that next step and get on that treadmill that has been staring me in the face for the last couple months. I keep "meaning to", but it hasn't happened. I am pre-op yet, and will soon be getting my surgery date, so you are ahead of me in the surgical process. But if you want someone to workout with and share postings on how things are going and encourage each other, I could use an exercise buddy, too.
I think that i will share the same advice i was given when i was 6 mos out. i wanted to make some sugar free cookies and i was told it was much too soon to put those type of snacks into my diet.
so, given that you are gaining and that you want to get back to healthy i would say that you should not view your daily diet with "snacks". instead view your eating times as meals - 6 small meals a day. that could change your mindset about what to eat.
i agree, purge all the junk. then purchase good foods like nuts, yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese. try to stick with the least processed foods you can find.
i have lots of actual snack food in my house, and if you weren't struggling with gaining i would have suggestions on what treats i eat. but i think that's best for a later time.
good luck on the exercise - at 3yrs out i have never done a bit. We're moving soon and my DH says he will put up the weight machine - we'll see if i will ever use it!
