Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
A favorite quote "There is NO finish-line.
Healthy food choices, move your body,
work on the head. Rinse, lather, repeat. Forever."
Good luck to you, I will be cheering for you!
Do not give up! My husband was given a terminal diagnosis and I immedatley gained back 5 pounds. But then I realized I can't help him, if I go back to my old ugly ways.
Honey - this is always what this website has been about. Unconditional love and support. There is no judgement here, but understanding and a sharing of mutual experiences.
We are going through a smiliar journey. PM me and i'll send you my email so we can be of mutual support ot each other.
Hugs,
Diana
Yesterday at our family Easter gathering, my dad asked me if I was still losing. I said no, but I'm maintaining and considering how much stress I'm under, I'm happy with that. He laughed, poked my stomach and said "isn't that what got you fat in the first place?" I was so hurt, but just said something innocuous and walked away. I choose not to let him hurt me.
You can do this girl! Big hugs!
Linda
You are a stronger woman than me. Father or not, I would have slapped him :)
And you look great!!!!
My surgeon said that our bodies will just slip into a new normal. I still weigh 170lbs but that beats being 250. I may not lose another pound but I wear size 12s and a few 10s and I'm okay with that. I like having boobs and curves and the most important thing is that I can walk 4 miles in an hour and have endless energy. My goal was never to be a size 2
Tami and Linda, this journey is so individual. We need to ignore those outside voices and listen to our own bodies and see what works for us. I am blessed to have a husband and BFF that root me on. If there are negative influences in your life, I would limit your contact with them as much as possible.

I recently gained some weight after having some plastic surgery and I'm having a hard time getting rid of it. I'm going to try the 5 day pouch test diet and see what happens. Maybe you should give it a try too.
I wish you all the best.

I'm feeling so low about everything it's amazing. Just a few short months ago I had reached my goal and was maintaining well. I injured my shoulder and had to have surgery and couldn't exercise and that was the beginning of the slide. Somehow I've gotten it in my head that I don't deserve to be thin and healthy and I'm having a hard time with these thoughts.
I've always been so positive throughout this whole process I just don't know how to get back there. I don't want you or anyone else to think that I'm glad your struggling right now but it does in some small way help me to realize that I'm not the only one. I've read the advice the others have given you and I'm going to try to listen to it myself.
We both started this process around the same time (I'm a bit further out than you if I remember right). Maybe we should both try the pouch test and see if it helps?
Linda, your a better woman than I am, walking away was a great choice but not one I would have made easily.
Dianna, I'm sorry to hear your husband is ill, although not yet terminal my husband is also chronically ill and I know what our future holds. Prayers to you and him.
It's interesting that no matter how long I stay away, I always feel better when I come back on and see familiar faces filled with love, support and good advice.
Hugs to all
Maureen

I guess my input is, we all can go thru depressing, challenging times, but added to the weight loss issue, and surgery..it just seems to magnify our emotions at times.
God is looking down on all of you..He only doles out these challenges, rough patches, to those he knows, can handle them, and get thru them, and find that sunshine, that pot of gold, at the other end!!
I am normally not super religious, but yet I'm spiritual....And just speak from my heart..
May you all rise above the darker days, knowing that you will see the light, at the end of the tunnel...
I , along with your other friends, and support system, are here for you!
Much love...
Boo
