Great news on your surgery date! Any pain I had was really well managed. My advice would be that you use enough pain medication so you can be up and walking. Walking makes a huge inference in your recovery. Wishing you all the bet!

I have surgery monday also......except this is gastric bypass revision apparently the doc has to do almost the same procedure as the first time.

so my first time i was off pain meds with in 24 hrs but I still had a bunch of gas pain. this new doc gives gas x after surgery so I don't anticipate any pain after the first 24 hrs again and if I need I plan on asking for pain mend when needed. my friend had this doc in aug do hers and she didnt have any major pain at all. good luck ill be walk walk walking and sip sip siping right along with you :)

I have to get it redone because my food is not going whee it is suposto after the pouch. he wont be making the pouch smaller but has to redo the stoma and reroute the intestine. It isn't something the first surgeon did its just one of those odd things. My old surgeon just failed to take me seriously and treat the problem.

you could call your surgeons office on the gas x thing .......im not sure about bringing your own most hospitals wont let you take meds unless they dispense them here.

I a four days post op, and doing ok. I am not gonna lie to you....there is some pain involved. But as I told my children, anything worth while isn't gonna be easy. Having them was painful! Each day gets a bit better and the pain meds help a lot. You can do this!

I had the sleeve surgery on 10/16/2012 and I am also a big wimp when it comes to pain. I have to be honest it hurt like crazy when I first woke up in recovery but then they gave me pain meds that helped a lot. I took the meds regularly til early the next morning and then never touched them after that. They sent me home with a scrip for Vicodin which I think I used maybe four times the first week home and that mostly to help sleep.

You will be just fine and on the loser's bench soon.

So my surgery was postponed today :( they think I have achalasia. So upset because it means I have to wait until January. Ugh!!

just be sure to walk, walk, walk. the pain is managable

I really didn't have that much pain. At the hospital they got me up the next day to walk every few hours and I continued it at home. Just listen to your body and don't push yourself and you will be fine. Congrats and good luck on the surgery.

I'm also having my surgery on Monday! Yay for our surgeries, almost here!!

As far as the pain, I obviously haven't done it yet, but 3 c-sections of a gall bladder surgery has taught me that the pain goes quickly. It is usually really intense for a day or two, and the you get better exponentially faster.
