Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
You will need extra vitamins and calories, obviously, to support your growing baby, and will probably be eating more complex carbs in your diet than during regular maintenance, and they will still want you to gain some weight during pregnancy, how much depends on where you're starting.
After the baby's born, you will continue with the higher end diet while nursing, but after the child is weaned, there's no reason you can't get back on your "proteins, liquids, veggies" horse and get yourself back to your maintenance weight. AND you'll have another child to chase around and clean up after. That will burn a few more calories each day! LOL
Big decision, it always is, but I keep hearing it's safe as long as you're planning around a supportive diet for the baby.
Blessings.
